This week students studying Geography visited the “The BiG Pit” at  Blaenavon, a World Heritage site as part of their  tourism unit. The day was a great success with students finding out about our mining heritage, experiencing life as a miner as well as seeing the impact that mining had on our landscape.

Everyone involved had a great day with one student saying “I was really interested in the information on the coal mines because I enjoyed realising what they went through. I felt amazed to be down there; I loved it and want to research it.”
