Post 16 Examination Results August 2012

The Headteacher, Governors and staff of Tonypandy Community College would like to congratulate all Post 16 students on their outstanding examination results. Students have once again excelled in Post 16 examinations allowing them to progress into higher education and employment.
“A” level result have been especially good with candidates achieving the top grades in a range of subjects and with all students gaining A* – E grades.
Nearly 40% of students gained the top A* and A grades.
70% of all grades were A* to C.
Over 96% of students gained the Level 3 Threshold.
For a second consecutive year success in the Welsh Baccalaureate was outstanding with over 85% of students gaining this very prestigious qualification at Advanced level.
Results in PE and Sport, Music Performance and R.E were exceptional which illustrates the creativity and innovation the College curriculum offers all students. There were 10 students who achieved A* or A grade in all subjects taken.

To study Sports Management at Cardiff Metropolitan.

James Davies – A A C – ICT and Sport

Kate Parsons – A A D in Performing Arts, Music Performance and English.

Joel Carre – A* A E in Sport and English.
To study Educational Studies/Early Years- Cardiff Metropolitan.

James Bailey – A A E in Sport and English.
To study Sports and Physical Education at Cardiff Metropolitan.

Mrs Helen O’Sullivan, Headteacher stated that, “ The College “open door” policy offers all students the opportunity to take a range of qualifications in a variety of subjects and this ensures appropriate pathways are in place to support them in their academic studies. The results this year are once again testimony to the dedication and hard work of both staff and students. On behalf of the Governors and staff I congratulate students on their commitment and dedication to their studies and wish them every success for their future.

Tatum Richards, Head of Post 16 at the College described the year group as unique and it is no surprise that they have achieved these outstanding results. She joins the Headteacher, Mrs. O’Sullivan in wishing them every success for the future.
