Students in 8A1 were this week presented with ASDAN certificates for their work on a creative writing programme completed under the tutorship of RAWR magazine editor Gail Griffiths.

The students, whose work culminated in an interview with Tonypandy Community College`s own Sophie Evans can be seen in the Summer 2011 edition of Rawr magazine, part of RCT`s music and culture publication WICID.

The students gained credits in Working with Others, Improving their Own Learning and Problem Solving and had an invaluable insight into the life of a a journalist.

Gail Griffiths who ran the sessions is an experienced journalist and was recenlty named RCT`s Educator of the Year for her work with young people and RAWR magazine.

Kate Owen Director of Learning for English and Languages said The students very much enjoyed the experience and we would reccomend that all young people in RCT have a look RAWR magizine which can be found in our libraries and schools.”
