Tuesday 19th February

Indoor Athletics Regional Meet

On Tuesday 19th Feb, pupils from both Year 7 and 8 travelled to Aberdare Leisure Centre to participate in the Indoor Athletics Regional Meet. There was stiff opposition as there were schools from all across R.C.T, including schools which are much bigger than TCC.

In the Boys’ competition, we had success in many areas. Ethan Hallam (year 8) came 2nd in the shot putt, Kyle Hewitt and Ronan Hooper both achieved top half finishes in the Speed Bounce. They were also very strong performances from Jack Pritchard, Matthew Clapham and Tom Williams (all year 7) in the running events. Joseph James and Liam Evans (year 8) both performed well in the shot putt and standing triple jump.

The girls’ competition proved to be a lot more competitive across the field. Lola Schorschinski and Jasmin Olds (Year 7) ran very well, coming first in one running event and 2nd in the relay. Poppy Green (Year 7) participated in the most events, ensuring that she did not let TCC down. In every event she entered, a top 3 place was achieved which is outstanding. Demi-Jo Colcombe (Year 7) and Jade Arundell (Year 8) performed very well in their events, gaining valuable points for their school.

In order to qualify for the regional finals, they had to finish in the top 2. The Boys’ were desperately close, finishing in 3rd position, only 4 points behind 2nd place! But the Girls’ finished 2nd in their competition so have qualified for the finals which is superb! The finals will take place on Monday 25th February and the whole school wishes them luck!

Mr Davies and Becky would like to mention how well behaved the pupils were throughout the day and done TCC proud! Every member gave 100% and every pupil performed well in their event! Well done!

Lola Schorschinski and Jack Pritchard both said “we couldn’t have done this without Mr Davies. His high level of knowledge and excellence in every area made sure we competed to the best of our ability!”
