Tonypandy Community School Prospectus Photography-137The WJEC GCSE in Child Development is designed to give candidates an opportunity to extend and apply their skills, knowledge and understanding of the development and care of children from conception to the age of five years.

It promotes an understanding of the social, emotional, physical and intellectual development of the child which is inter-linked through the study of the family, community and the responsibilities of parenthood.

Students are assessed via two pieces of course work, a child study and a child based task which make up 60% of the final grade.

The principles of child development examination, worth 40% will be sat in the summer of Year 11.
