The WJEC GCSE in Health and Social Care provides an opportunity for candidates to pursue a course of study and develop their knowledge and understanding of health and social care in a vocational context.
It is suitable for those who want a broad background in all health and social care sectors and provides valuable preparation, both for those who want to progress to higher education as well as for those entering the workplace.
This is a double award qualification and is worth 2 GCSE’S. Students will be assessed on four different units.
- Unit 1 is a project based unit focussing on local health provision.
- Unit 2 is a written exam, entitled ‘ Human growth and development’.
- Unit 3 is a written exam, entitled ‘Maintaining health and well-being’. (Double award only)
- Unit 4 is a project based unit focussing on promoting the health and well-being of an individual or group. (Double award only)
