It was a high scoring affair as Tonypandy Community College faced Porth Comprehensive this afternoon. A more organised looking Tonypandy team battled hard in the first half and were unlucky to be 1 nil down from a 30 yard free kick.

The second half saw Sion Richards depart due to work commitments, his presence at the heart of the defence and reading of the game was sorely missed during the second half and he continues to be a great ambassador for the school in sporting contests such as this.
Porth reacted to this change coming close to putting the game to bed within 10 minutes but for some stubborn defending from Jack Rossiter at full stretch, clearing what was a sure chance off the line.
The outstanding goalkeeping of Jake Culleton tipping many goal chances away from danger sparked a reaction from the boys. Man of the Match Ethan Griffiths started to dictate in the middle looking comfortable in possession and a goal from Teifion Thomas put us back in contention. Tom Williams beat the offside trap with a bending run latching on to a defence splitting pass from Ellis Powell. We were now in a game. With time running out Ellis made it 5.3 with a superbly taken 30 yard free kick of his own but the clock was our worst enemy today with chances galore at both ends.

We now look forward to continuing our progression in the RTC cup during November with a home draw against the winners of Ysgol Gufyn Llanhari/ Y Pant School ⚽⚽⚽
