It was a pleasure to see our Year 8 Football Team performing to their maximum this afternoon. The boys completed a 7.2 victory over Hawthorn who struggled to cope with the quality at our disposal.

The first half saw a stylish top corner finish off the ever reliable left boot of Tonypandy’s Man of the Match Jacob Glasby. It was two nil after another dominant 10 minutes- through the excellent Liam Jones. Although Hawthorn showed some fight and equalised shortly after, Declan Simkiss added to his goal tally this week after scoring for our Year 9s in his previous game. He scored an ambitious half volley from the edge of the 18 yard box to put us comfortably 3.1 up at half time.

Tonypandy did not take any prisoners in the second half and four more goals followed, Declan showing his clinical touch as he calmly slotted home a drop ball in the area. Tristan Symmonds was rewarded from his forward play with a fine top corner thunderbolt, Iestyn Edwards and Iestyn Jenkins completed the scoring. A consolation goal was scored from a last minute free kick but the final whistle takes the boys through to the next round of the RTC cup.

Football is a team game and the introduction of speedster -Sam Hughes-Acton in the second half was amongst our best players, Kai Carnell was highly impressive in goal and Iwan Williams at the back will give us a few selection headaches In games to come.
