To cap a busy week of fixtures our Year 11 boys were in action and are through to the quarter finals of the RCT cup by defeating Hawthorn 5-4 this afternoon.

After a lengthy-injury layoff it was a pleasure to welcome Jack Pritchard  into the starting eleven. Jack proved class is permanent and wasted no time as he opened the scoring for us with a wonderfully taken 30 yard free-kick which was top draw. Tonypandy were applying some serious pressure and through a bit of pinball in the opposition box Teifion Thomas took his chance well to make it 2.0. While confidence was high the boys admittedly allowed complacency to creep into the ranks and Hawthorn deserved to be ahead 3.2 at the halfway point.
In a halftime shake up Luke Iles and Alex Rowland entered the frame. Whilst ability does count, it is ultimately application and desire which earns you the right to play. From the get-go it was evident these two boys were not there just there to make up the numbers. Through their will to run beyond the opposition and push themselves to their limits Luke was rewarded as he was clearly fouled by the opposition keeper. Up stepped Ethan Griffiths who was possibly the calmest person on the field to put us level from a penalty. Hawthorn responded to make it 4,3 perhaps against the run of play but Tonypandy were far from finished and Jack Pritchard scored a further two goals from half volleys just inside the 18 yard showing his poise to bring the game to the close. 5-4, 9 Goals and a lot of tired Legs.
It was with great delight to see so many boys taking part in the highly anticipated Staff/6thForm vs Year 11 game. Unsurprisingly it was the Teachers who earned the bragging rights with a 7.4 end result.
