Here are some of our Year 7 students in high spirits today after a very impressive outing against local opposition in the RCT 10′ a Side Tournament.

Tonypandy began the journey to the Final with a 20-5 point victory over Treorchy in a dominant display where the front row of Ethan Thomas, Jack Lee and Gavin Parry were just too strong for their counterparts in both Scrums and in open play. This provided us with the well needed platform to play some attractive running Rugby. Try scorers in this one were Jac Lewis, Dafydd L Edwards, Brandon Chapman and wing Kyle Kinsey who rounded a superb move to cap off what was a top draw performance from the team. M.O.T.M Josh Woolford.
In the second game we beat a Porth side 20-10 with Tries coming from Jac Lewis x2, Dafydd L Edwards and an outstanding individual try from his own half from none other than Tonypandy all round sportsman- Evan Jones. Evan, has been training every week without fail and is possibly the most improved player in the year group, he rightly earned the M.O.T.M award in this game. Evan showed some excellent game intelligence and his tackling was exceptional and really motivated others around him.
In what was the ‘Final’ we really were really unlucky to lose 10-5 to Tonyrefail in a well matched game. Dafydd L Edwards opening the scoring with a fine try beating 5 players to cross for our first. Although we dominated in possession, we were held up on many occasion in what was some some stubborn defending from our neighbours who prevented us from winning the whole thing. Captain Lawson Luker putting his hand up for the M.O.T.M here along with Brandon Chapman who was possibly our most threatening player in the entire Tournament this afternoon with pace a plenty.
I hope the ‘Red’ of Wales Tomorrow are as equally strong as the Pandy were this Afternoon!!
Mr Owen
