The Tonypandy boys took on a strong Tonyrefail team in a hostile atmosphere at Tonyrefail School. Both teams had top players who represent both Cardiff City and Cambrian Academy, so a entertaining match was expected!

On a very windy afternoon, Tonypandy got off to the better start with Harri Jones and Corey Thomas causing havoc down the wings. The midfield of Lewis Thomas and Lewis Owen battled hard in order to keep Tonypandy on top! Their work paid off when Corey Thomas won a corner down the right, the ball was fizzed in which resulted in Lewis Thomas scoring a 10 yard screamer which sent the travelling support into madness! Tonypandy looked comfortable in possession with Tonyrefail becoming frustrated as their attacks fizzled out into nothing. But disaster struck in first half injury time. Tonypandy lost possession in the middle of the field, Tonyrefail broke upfield on the counter attack with their striker riffling the ball into Thomas Miles  left hand corner.

Again, Tonypandy started off brightly, out playing their local rivals. As the game progressed without a further score, it was becoming a tense and nervous affair. But the crucial score came 10 mins from time! Superb work from Matthew Smith set up a tap in for John Leader to make the score 2-1. This had a huge effect on the game as Tonypandy gained momentum and Tonyrefail hearts were broken. It got even better for Pandy when John Leader struck a third to make it 3-1 and ensure the trophy was coming to Llewyllyn Street. Tonyrefail did grab a consolation goal during injury time but the game was all but over! As the referee blew his final whistle, it started off wild celebrations whilst being modest in victory!
