Students from Tonypandy Community College were on hand at Cardiff City Stadium this week to provide their own unique Good Luck message to World Record Transfer Footballer, Gareth Bale.
14 Students from the School’s e3+ After School Club programme, were invited by the Football Association of Wales to the Wales Team’s Private Training Session, where they showed off their artwork to the stars themselves.
As well as Gareth Bale, they had painted Wales stars Aaron Ramsey, Craig Bellamy and Captain, Ashley Williams –all of whom posed for photos with the paintings and the young artists, before going out to train on the eve of their clash with Serbia.
The 14 lucky students spent 2 days painting with the Football Association of Wales’ Community Arts Partners, Pippin’s Designs. The reward for all their efforts was the private meeting with the team before watching them train and a chance to personally wish Gareth Bale good luck at Real Madrid. They also received free VIP tickets from the FAW to the match with Serbia.
Jon Phillips, Director of Pippin’s Designs, said: “The group worked really hard over the two days of painting and fully deserved their moment of fame, standing alongside their heroes, while all the cameras flashed around them.”
As well as jointly funding the Art Project with Rhondda Cynon Taf’s Services for Young People, the FAW also arranged for each Student to receive a Certificate signed by the entire squad, so a pretty good few days all in all!
Headteacher Mrs O’Sullivan said “A big Thank You to Pippins Design and the FAW for making this project possible and for giving these students something very special to remember.”
