Community Skills programme
The Rhondda Trust has supported The Friends of Tonypandy Community College, to provide a two year programme of Community based skill courses. The newly refurbished skills Centre at the College will host a number of classes over the next two year and support the vocational curriculum for students.
On Friday 2nd October Chris Bryant MP and Leighton Andrews AM joined with the College’s Headteacher Mrs Helen O’Sullivan, Governors and staff to officially open the facility. Courses are Free and open to all who want to gain skills in Plumbing, Construction and Horticulture.
The first of these started in Mid September with 16 members of the community taking part. Ian Letterman one of our community learners said “It’s great to be able to come along and learn new skills in such a relaxed environment. I am grateful to the College and the Rhondda Trust for making this course possible.”
Both ministers congratulated the Friends of the College on their successful application to the Rhondda Trust for funding this provision and acknowledged the contribution this funding and the College
