Week Beginning 07.09.15

Start of Term

This has been an excellent start to the term and Year 7 have settled very well. All students have returned to College with a positive attitude and their uniform is impeccable.

The results at all Key Stages were excellent. Reports in “The Western Mail”,”Echo”and from the Local Authority have shared with us in celebrating student success.

Our results at KS3 have now been validated and place us in improved quartiles. This will be acknowledged as significant improvement by ESTYN when they return in November.

At KS4 the College has improved L2 + (5A*-C with Maths and English) by 18.7% to 49%. This is by far the highest increase across the region and places Tonypandy Community College second highest in the Rhondda.

P16, as we have reported via our website were once again excellent.

Reports in “The Echo” and “The Western Mail” comment on the significant increase of 18.7% on L2 + by the College and this must be celebrated. We look forward to sharing this with ESTYN when they return in November.

Attendance remains a key priority for the College. Last year’s attendance of 93.2% was excellent, improving on the previous year by .03%. This year 93.5% is our target.

As parents, we appreciate your support and urge you to make every effort to ensure your child achieves the highest attendance possible.

Boxing World Championships

Join us in celebrating Rhys Edwards, Year 11, selection for Wales for the World Championships in Russia.

Rhys visited us on Tuesday in full kit before he left.

‘Go Rhys!’ We wish him every success and are incredibly proud of him.
