Kieran Garland (Yr11) represents Tonypandy Community College at the Urdd National Swimming Finals in Cardiff.

Following his success at the regional meet in November, Kieran Garland (15) of Yr11 represented Tonypandy Community College and RCT Schools at the Urdd National Swimming Finals in Cardiff on Sunday 21st Janurary 2018.

His first race was in the preliminaries of the 100m front-crawl. He was drawn in the final heat against some of the quickest boys in the competition who were aged from 15 to 18. He came second in his heat just behind the Welsh Champion with a time of 58.58s, which was fast enough as he qualified for the final.

His second race was the 200m IM, which was against a field of 17/18 year olds, therefore he was the youngest but still managed to check me 4th, thus missing out on the Bronze medal by half a second.

The third race was the final of the 100m front-crawl, for which he had qualified earlier in the day. Recording a personal best time of 57.91s he won the Bronze medal .

Outstanding effort Kieran. Congratulations on the Bronze medal and personal best time.
