Following the visit from Lawrence Dallaglio himself the foundation boys embarked on their first tournament.  It took place on Friday 6th March at Darren Park.  Thankfully the sun was out as this allowed a dynamic brand of rugby to be played.

The tournament itself was a tri-series event with each team playing one another once.  The first game saw Tonypandy play Ty Gwyn.  Tonypandy came through 9 tries to 6.  The next match saw Porth play Ty Gwyn and Ty Gwyn came out victorious.

The third and final game saw Tonypandy play Porth.  Porth mathematically could progress as long as they beat Tonypandy by 7 tries.  Tonypandy’s job was simple, win and they would progress to the National Championship.  Delighted to say they kept there nerve winning 6 tries to 3.

On winning the regional sector of the competition Corrie-Lee Green commented “it’s a great feeling being Champions, I have really enjoyed the programme and look forward to representing Wales in the finals”.

The boys progress to the National Finals on Thursday 26th March in London.
