Dear Parent / Guardian

I am writing to inform you that the last day of this term will be Friday 21st July 2017 and will be a full College day with buses collecting students at 3.00pm.  There will be no early finish.

On the reverse of this letter you will find details of:

  • examination results dates
  • arrangements for the start of term in September.
  • uniform requirements
  • new expectations with regards the use of mobile phones

Parents and guardians are reminded that students should comply with the College requirements for uniform and equipment and they should not present themselves with excessive jewellery or bizarre hairstyles on their return in September.  All students should be prepared for their first week back in College and they should ensure they have the correct, kit, lesson equipment (pencil case, calculator etc.) and an appropriate school bag. This equipment and bag must be brought to school every day.

To encourage participation in extracurricular activities, improve punctuality and address issues of health and safety from September, KS3 Students (Years 7, 8 and 9) will not be permitted to leave College at lunch time. If you wish your child to come home for lunch, a formal application needs to be made to the relevant Progress Manager and a personal pass will be issued in September.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your support over the last academic year. It has been an incredibly successful year for Tonypandy Community College students across all aspects of College life. We are confident that the students will again achieve a very strong set of examination results in the summer.  Your support has been very much appreciated and I wish everyone a restful and enjoyable summer.

Yours faithfully,

Mr Nathan Prygodzicz

September 2017

The College will re-open after the summer holidays as follows:

Mobile Phone Use – September 2017

From September 2018 Tonypandy Community College will operate a zero tolerance policy on the use of mobile phones in classrooms and corridors.

Whilst we acknowledge that from a health and safety view point it is convenient for students to bring mobile phones to school, we require that the phones are turned off and in student bags.

We will have designated mobile friendly areas during break and lunch times but at all times during the school day there will be a zero tolerance policy on the use of mobile phones in classrooms and corridors.

If a student is seen with a mobile phone the member of staff will confiscate the phone and place it in the safe in reception. If the student complies and hands over the phone in the first instance every term the student can collect the phone from reception at the end of the day. For every subsequent incident a parent / guardian will need to collect the phone.

We would very much appreciate your support with this matter in an attempt to further improve learning and teaching experiences and reduce any element of conflict. If you need to contact your child urgently, please ring reception.
