Tonypandy Community College Cluster Primary School Literacy and Numeracy Conference
Tonypandy Community College hosted a Literacy and Numeracy conference, for the seven cluster primary schools in catchment for the College.
Representatives including the Literacy and Numeracy coordinators from the College, Penygraig Juniors, Tonypandy Primary, Ysgol yr Eos, Williamstown Primary, Llwynypia Primary, Cwmclydach Primary and Pontrhondda Primary enjoyed valuable professional development, by sharing sector leading practice in the delivery of Literacy and Numeracy.
Rhodri Thomas, Assistant Head at Tonypandy Community College, said, “This has been an extremely beneficial day for the College and our cluster schools. “It is exciting to see the excellent practice that is taking place with regards to the delivery of the Literacy and Numeracy Framework. “Sharing this work and continued collaborative planning will secure the very best Literacy and Numeracy development for the children in our area.”
The representatives from the primary schools evaluated the day as “brilliant to discuss shared cluster initiatives and lovely ideas on how to develop Numeracy and Literacy skills”, “an invaluable opportunity to discuss the alignment of Literacy and Numeracy practice” and “great ideas shared which I can’t wait to take back to my school”.
Three further meetings are scheduled this academic year to continue the development of collaborative approaches.
