It was with great pleasure that the Performing Arts faculty was again asked to arrange a concert in support of RCT Mayor’s chosen charities. Having spoken to the students, we decided this year to perform a selection from the hit West End musical, “Mamma Mia”. This is a great show, full of fun dance songs, which everyone had a great time working on.

There were two sections of soloists in this production, with the younger lead roles taken by Ffion Durstan, Hope Martin and Georgia Chislett. The older lead roles were taken by Ebony Denton, Paige Martin, Janet Tutton-Goodwin, Alicia Williams and Melissa Edmunds.

All the girls sung their songs with skill and passion and were ably accompanied by a chorus from across the College.

The response from a sold out audience in the Muni Theatre, Pontypridd was fantastic and all were really impressed with the energy of the performance. Some of the songs performed on the night were: ‘Mamma Mia’, ‘Dancing Queen’, ‘Honey Honey’ and ‘Gimme Gimme Gimme’ and they were all accompanied by some great dance moves. The evening also contained performances by some of our students as a part of the LMT Academy and was finished off with a solo performance by local singer, James Williams. At the end of the concert, all the students involved joined forces for a wonderful performance of the song ‘Don’t stop believing’, which had sections of the audience on their feet, cheering on the talent of the 100 youngsters performing.

All together, the performers made the evening a night to remember and all were thrilled to raise £1500 for the Mayors charities, which got a magnificent round of applause from all!

Thank you from the faculty to all of the students involved!
