Happy New Year! Blwyddyn Newydd Dda!
I am delighted to begin my first term as Headteacher of Tonypandy Community College and will remain in post until the new 3-16 school opens in September 2018.
We have many exciting developments ahead and I’m looking forward to seeing first-hand how our College will continue to thrive and succeed for the benefit of all students and staff.
During the festive season we all enjoyed the positive media coverage attributed to the College following the excellent news that Estyn has removed us from special measures.
This has been a collaborative effort by staff, children, governors and the wider community whose dedication and commitment has been remarkable and I want to thank them all for their outstanding efforts.
However, this is not a period when we can afford to rest on our laurels but rather the catalyst to continue significant improvements already made throughout the College.
The handing over of the new 3G Pitch has been a landmark moment in the history of the College.
Over the coming months further building work will continue and we are grateful to you all for your patience during this period.
Undoubtedly the end result will be a new school that will continue to provide a first-class educational experience for 3-16 year olds.
The driving factor of all staff is to ensure the highest standards of attainment by our students. Many from Year 11 have started the new term by undertaking exams and collectively we are prepared for another academic year of excellent results.
We are also committed to ensuring a seamless transition period as we move towards the formation of the new school and will continue to be a happy and thriving place to work and learn.
