On Thursday 4th March 2010 I made the trip to the Greenhouse Centre of Development at Tonypandy to assist in their weekly session which brought together the best players from Tonypandy, Tonyrefail and Ferndale.

It was amazing to see the high level on show which, for me as national coach, is very encouraging for Welsh table tennis and its future. Steve Jenkins and Alan Monks were leading the coaching this week and the players were very motivated to show why they had been chosen to attend. In the 5 years Greenhouse has invested in Wales the progressions are there for all to see and has resulted in many good results at today’s Welsh Championships in Cardiff. Conor Edwards and Alex Prosser of Tonypandy won the Welsh U18 Boys doubles title and Nicole Hall from Tonyrefail won a silver in the U15 girls event. Keiran Tann (Ferndale) and Conor Edwards (Tonypandy) both won bronze medals in the U15 Boys event. There were many more examples of good play from these dedicated youngsters….
