Important information on National Reading and Literacy tests.

(Please ensure your young person attends school on these dates)

Dear Parent/Guardian,

All students in Wales are required to sit annual tests in both reading and numeracy from Year 2 to Year 9. These tests were designed by the Welsh Government to monitor students’ literacy and numeracy skills, the results are kept on students’ records and used by schools to inform teacher planning.

Students will sit one reading test and two numeracy tests (procedural and reasoning). Students are not required to revise for these tests at home, however students have had preparation work and mock tests within their maths and English lessons.

Attendance to the tests is vital. If you child is unable to attend any of the test dates can you please contact the college so that resit dates can be arranged.

The dates are as follows:

Reading Test (Year 7) Wednesday 6th May

Reading Test (Year 8) – Friday 1st May

Reading Test  (Year 9) – Friday 1st May

Numeracy Test (Procedural) Tuesday 5th May – Year 7, 8 & 9
