Dear Parents and Guardians
I am privileged to have been appointed as the Headteacher of the new all through 3 – 16 School for Tonypandy, which will open on the current secondary school site in September 2018. I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself and outline initial plans for the coming months.

I was born in Bridgend where I went to school and attended University in Swansea before settling into married life with my husband and two small children.

For the past twenty years I’ve been fortunate to work in the teaching profession at schools in  Newport, Bridgend and Tonypandy. During my career I have also worked as a Primary Play Leader and Youth Worker in a variety of settings.

Therefore I hope my lengthy teaching career and family life illustrates how much I realise this time of immense change can be worrying for any parent or student.

Please feel assured that I am incredibly conscious of your concerns and I pledge to work closely with you, your children, their teachers and the local community to ensure as seamless a transition to the new school as possible.

Like all parents and carers, I want the very best education for our children and am committed to the creation of a school where all children are successful, happy and fulfilled. In the new school our children will be supported to develop into wonderful, courteous, caring individuals who understand the importance of mutual respect, tolerance and their future contribution to our community, country and wider world.

It is my firm belief that the best education combines high standards of achievement with strong moral guidance. Education should provide opportunities for every individual child to succeed in a variety of ways, preparing them for their futures.

I believe that learning should be fun and enriching and all children should feel happy and safe .

Together we will create a school that fulfills these ambitions and ensure high academic standards and a wide range of experiences for all of our children- where no child is left behind. Over the coming months, I will communicate with you and key stakeholders regularly to keep you abreast of progress and developments.

Later this year, once we have consulted and decided upon our new school name, brand and uniform we will launch our website and social media pages to ensure I can keep you updated with all aspects of the project and its progress. There will also be an opportunity for us to meet next term.
