Tonypandy Community College is extremely proud of the achievement of Sophie Evans (Yr12) as she stars in the live TV rounds of  ‘Over the Rainbow’, aspiring to be Dorothy in a role that suits her down to the ground.

We always knew Sophie had that ‘something special’ and audiences, both in the College and the wider community, have enjoyed her talent for many years.

Sophie has starred as Annie, Belle in Beauty and the Beast and Blousey Brown in ‘Bugsy Malone’ in past College productions and is due to star as a Ronnette in ‘Little Shop of Horrors’ this coming October, If Lord Lloyd Webber doesn’t steal her first!

She has also made many appearances in local amateur operatic productions throughout the Rhondda valley.  Sophie also has previous experience of televised competitions, having made it to the last 100 in the X Factor in 2008.

Academically, Sophie has excelled in Drama, Music and Performing Arts at GCSE and AS level.

We wish Sophie the very best of luck and can assure her that the whole of the Rhondda will be cheering her on in the competition. We are so pleased for Sophie and hope that the country can now enjoy her wonderful voice which has enchanted us for some time. Vote Sophie!
