Students at Tonypandy Community College have once again achieved excellent exam success. Students have followed traditional ‘A’ Level, vocational and additional skill courses to achieve well deserved results.
The pass rates:
A*-E – 95%, an increase of 2.7% from 2015
A*-C – 75.2% an increase of 4.75 from 2015
A*-A – 47.3%
Headteacher Mrs Helen O’Sullivan said:
“This exceptional standard of performance is well deserved and I would like to thank the combined efforts of all involved, especially students, their families and the staff at the College.”
Attainment of the Welsh Baccalaureate is especially pleasing as once again students have excelled at this prestigious qualification with 92% gaining the full advanced qualification with 45% achieving the top grades of A* and A.
BTEC courses have once again delivered many A* and A grades and we should celebrate this.
2016 has seen an unprecedented number of unconditional offers for university applications for our students. This highlights the excellent calibre of our students and the quality of the applications they submitted earlier in the year. This is outstanding, and reflects the effective preparation programme available to students in the College.
Mrs Tatum Tonge, Head of Post 16 added:
“These excellent results are a testament to the students’ hard work and dedication. I would like to wish every one of the 2016 cohort all the very best for the future. Well done!”
Our top certificates are:
Zoe Arundell – 5 A* Grades
Jonathan Phipps – 3 A* Grades, 2 A Grades
Alysha Hitchings – 3 A* Grades, 1 A Grade
