Wales v Fiji Trip
On Saturday 15th November 2014 – 43 students and 7 staff from Tonypandy Community College went to The Millennium Stadium in Cardiff to watch Wales take on Fiji as part of the Autumn series of Rugby Internationals held in the Capital.
Although the game was forgettable in parts, the experience certainly wasn’t and a good day out was had by all, the excellent seats allowing us to get up close to the action near to where the Welsh squad warmed up before the national anthems and spectacular pyrotechnics opening ensued.
The physical Fijian team started proceedings with their traditional ‘Cibi’ war dance and play was soon underway, Wales being roared on by the 61,000-strong crowd in attendance. After some patchy play by both sides Fiji, despite being on the wrong end of the scoreboard, came out with more of the plaudits, with Wales needing to improve dramatically if they are to end the 61 year wait for a win again The All Blacks who are their next visitors.
Both staff and students enjoyed the experience and look forward to the next visit.
