On Monday 21st of October, Tonypandy Community College students ran their own a charity event as part of Welsh Baccalaureate Diploma.

The group ‘Pure LTD’ consisted of Liam Hale, Josh Phillips, Harri Jones and Jonah Huntley decided that they wanted to raise money for the local charity ‘Through Iestyn’s eyes’. Iestyn was diagnosed with a brain tumour at the age of the 3 and whom the boys know well.

To raise money the group planned and organised a ‘cake and can sale’ charity event in their school hall. The event was a huge success, Liam Hale said that “we were very busy throughout the break time and all students seemed to enjoy their cakes knowing it was for as good cause.” The boys raised a total of £80 which was then donated to Iestyn on his visit to the college last week.

Miss Tatum Richards (Head of Post 16) said “the boys worked extremely hard during this project and it was a pleasure to see them hand Iestyn the cheque last week.”  Iestyn and his mother are very thankful of the boys for raising money for Iestyn.
