The College its staff and students have been privileged to be involved in the Tonypandy 2010 centenary events. The week long activities have been incredibly successful with students being involved in many of the projects over a period of time.

Students from Yr10 Drama group took part in Green Bay Media excellent programme “Tonypandy Riots a New History” which saw the whole of key stage 3 and students from our cluster junior school march through the streets of Tonypandy.

Other students from the College together with students from Ysgol Gyfun Cymmer worked on a joint project to write a song for a unique live music event centred around Tonypandy 1910 to 2010. The show was staged at the Parc and Dare Theatre on 2 & 3rd November 2010 and received rave reviews. This also formed part of BBC Radio Wales programme broadcast on Sunday 7th November

Students from the College Post 16 Horticultural group planted plants in the garden surrounding the newly restored Lady of The Lamp statue today putting to great use their newly gained skills. During the summer students had attended a workshop with a local artist on the design of the planters and seats that surround the statue.

On the 18th November students will travel to the  Sennydd in Cardiff to launch Roots To Restoration Teaching resource Pack with the Education minister Leghton Andrews.

Congratulation to all involved.
