assemble-visit

The Student Council enjoyed a full day of activities at the Senedd as guests of the education team and Leighton Andrews, A.M. for the Rhondda. The day was kicked off with a lively debate in the original siambr, during which the students voted to introduce age restrictions for energy drinks.

Following this the group split in to two committees and discussed smoking in public spaces and social media. They then had a tour of the building and met Leighton Andrews, who spent time with the group, explaining the machinations of the assembly and taking questions.

The group told Leighton of their involvement in the “Brighter Futures “campaign with Citizen Cymru and he agreed to meet with them, later this year to discuss their issues.

The Student Council were also invited to a pre-election “Question Time” event, to be held in the Rhondda. The day was rounded off with a meal in the bay, enjoyed by all.

We are proud of what the Student Council are doing and look forward to supporting them in their campaigns.
